As you are no doubt aware, the pet food industry has been hit with a major crisis affecting not only national brands, but also many private labeled brands of dog and cat food.

Please be aware that all PetCare Pet Insurance policies will cover any kidney damage (including both the diagnosis and treatment) for any cat or dog which was exposed to any of the tainted pet food (now recalled) as long as the animal was enrolled in a PetCare Insurance Policy prior to the onset of symptoms. Coverage will be provided up to the coverage limit under the category of Poison Ingestion (Accident coverage).

There is a tendency to take pets’ health for granted but it is impossible to predict what unexpected accidents and illnesses will occur and the associated costs. The pet food recall has underlined the importance of insuring your pet today. PetCare has already paid out its first claim related to the recall - PetCare has paid out as much as $5,362.90 on a claim for renal failure.

Thank you so very much for being there during our recent crisis with DJ and the poisoning incident! We think it was the canned dog food that has been recalled nation-wide that caused her illness. She presented symptoms of vomiting, weakness, panting, thirsting, and could barely walk. She was originally misdiagnosed with cancer and we were told we may have to put her down, but we chose to wait, doubting the diagnosis. DJ required IV, tests, and hospitalization for several days; all of which was covered by PetCare. When she got back from the hospital I put her on raw foods and she bounced right back and seems better than ever!
